The Montérégie Public Health Department reminds the population to adopt reflexes to protect themselves from the Western Nile virus.
The advice to protect yourself from mosquitoes go through the wearing of long clothes, especially at dawn and twilight, the use of a mosquito repellent, the verification of windows and mosquito nets, the use of a protective net for young children in the stroller or in the park, as well as the avoidance of places where there are stagnant water sources which promote the reproduction of mosquitoes.
The Public Health Department reminds citizens that there is no treatment or specific vaccine against the Western Nile Virus and that prevention remains the best option.
