Awareness activities against the risks of prolonged exposure to the sun will take place throughout the summer, in the structures receiving children.
DLearned July, the Les Parrauds de Montrem leisure center welcomed an awareness of solar prevention organized by the Coursac antenna, from the League against cancer of the cancer of DOrdog. Namely: 80 % of skin cancers are linked to excessive sun exposure, mainly regular and intense exposure during childhood. From this postulate, prevention of young people has become a priority for the league antenna against cancer of the DOrdog. Forty children, supervised by the teaching team and the association’s volunteers, participated in this animation as playful as instructive.
Learn simple gestures
Installed outdoors, large ground games allowed children to learn while having good reflexes to adopt to protect themselves from ultraviolet rays: wear a cap, sunglasses, a t-shirt, regularly apply sunscreen and stay in the shade in the hottest hours. So many simple but essential gestures, presented in an interactive way.
The animation did not stop there. The children also left with illustrated leaflets, colorful postcards and, above all, a UV bracelet. This small accessory changes color according to the intensity of the sun’s rays, allowing to immediately visualize the level of risk. A concrete way of making them realize that the sun, even when it is veiled or in cloudy weather, can be dangerous for the skin.
This initiative, carried by the League against Cancer, is part of an awareness process from an early age which will take place throughout the summer, in leisure receptions. By instilling in good gestures early, it aims to reduce risky behavior and prevent the harmful effects of the sun, the main avoidable cause of skin cancer.
