Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced the appointment of Pierre Moreau as government representative in the Senate.
Senator Moreau has four decades of legal and political experience, especially as senator, lawyer and member of the National Assembly of Quebec. He has occupied important roles in the Quebec Council of Ministers, in particular those of Minister responsible for Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs and the Canadian Francophonie, Minister of Transport, Minister of Municipal Affairs, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
Senator Moreau will rely on his expertise and experience to advance the government’s legislative program to reduce costs, ensure communities security and build a strong and unified Canadian economy.
The Prime Minister thanks Senator Marc Gold for his many years of service as a government representative in the Senate and wishes him a good retirement.
