Production and import prices are cut in July

Keystone-SDA

Advanced inflation indicator, the production and import price index (PPI) continued its decline in July, for the third consecutive month. Watches and medical devices in particular have become more affordable, unlike hydrocarbons.

(Keystone-ATS) The indicator calculated by the Federal Statistics Office fell 0.2% in a monthly shift, to now set up at 106.2 points, according to a periodic report released on Thursday.

The increase in hydrocarbons explains in large part the modest rebound of 0.1% of the import prices sub-index, calculated excluding tax on added (VAT) at the time of customs. The price of the prices of local goods at the exit of the factory was reduced by 0.3%.

Over one year, the price level of the total supply of all origins combined dropped by 0.9%.

Published in early August in early August, the consumer price index had hardly changed over a month in July, indicating unchanged inflation over a year of 0.2%. The rents, the main post of expenditure of a majority of Swiss and which do not enter into production prices or in imports, increased by 2.6% over a year, now the pace already observed in June.
