Intrusion at the British Air Base Norton

The High Court of London refused on Friday to suspend the ban on Palestine Action-approved by Parliament Thursday-which therefore joined the list of organizations considered terrorists in the United Kingdom on Saturday. Tensions with the police had already broken out in the afternoon before the court.

The government announced last week that it was going to prohibit Palestine Action under the law of 2000 on terrorism, a few days after activists from the group entered the Britic Norton air base, the most important of the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom, where they had smeared red paint two military aircraft. Four people were charged with this intrusion and placed in pre -trial detention Thursday pending a hearing scheduled for July 18. The damage of this action was estimated at 7 million pounds (8 million euros) by the police.

United Nations experts criticized London’s decision this week, believing that “Simple material damage, without endangering the life of others, are not serious enough to be qualified as terrorism”.
