The Nyon-Saint-Cergue train line was struck on Friday evening
During the storm, the NSTCM company facilities were victims of lightning. A stretch of rails was clogged by a mud flow.

A new tile falls on the NSTCM, the small red train which serves the Nyonnaise region. After having undergone two flood More or less devastating between 2023 and 2024, the railway company was affected by the consequences of a violent storm, Friday evening, according to the daily site “The side”.
“This was a completely unpredictable event,” says Emmanuel Laurent, director of the company and training engineer.
He says: “From top to bottom of the line, it typed. In the early evening, around 6.30 p.m., lightning fell on Trélex safety facilities. All the parasurtent equipment exploded and two level crossings found themselves out of operation. ” Time to restore them, rail traffic has been largely disturbed.
Faced with the substantial delays observed on the line, the company preferred to delete the races on the lower part of the line, in favor of bus. Thanks to the lightning mobilization of a dozen employees, rail traffic had almost resumed its normal course on Saturday morning.
Landslide
Almost simultaneously – and “because a misfortune never happens alone”, a flood on the top of the line caused a landslide on the railways, up to the “pralies” stop. “A locomotive mechanic gave the alert,” describes Emmanuel Laurent. We went there on foot. There, we found that hundreds of kilos of mud were blocking the way. From Monday 7 a.m., we will have to serve all this. ”
Almost simultaneously, a flood on the top of the line caused a landslide on the railways.

Train circulation will remain interrupted between the cure and St-Cergue until August 19 at around 4 a.m. The NSTCM website. The director hopes that the work will be completed by Monday evening. Meanwhile, replacement buses (EV) circulate.
The temporality of events, three days from the start of the school year, was obviously a source of stress. “We have warned the school associations and the schools concerned, and our partner transport company will add buses so as to ensure a sufficient offer.”
