Cybercriminals have targeted Ingram Micro. Following a ransomiciel attack, the IT distributor had to put several servers out of service on July 3. Customers could not place orders for a while. The company has since resumed its activities.
Update of July 10, 2025: Ingram Micro gradually returned to normal operation after cyber attack. On his status page, update for the last time on July 9, 2025, the wholesaler indicates that he is now operational in all countries and regions where he is active. Ingram Micro is therefore once again able to receive and process orders.
In its message, the company thanks its customers and partners for their support, adding: “This sector is based on solid and committed relationships, which make all the difference.”
Note that the company Palo Alto Networks also spoke. It operates the “globalProtect” VPN platform, which Ingram Micro employees had been educated not to use following the attack, according to an internal note. Questioned by the CRN media, Palo Alto Networks specifies that GlobalProtect VPN is in no way linked to cyber attack. CRN quotes the following declaration: “We can confirm that none of our products was the cause of the safety flaw or affected by it.”
News of July 7, 2025: Malventy hackers have struck Ingram Micro. The distributor confirms in a press release, having detected a ransomiciel on some of its internal systems. The company reacted by deploying protective measures, in particular by disconnecting certain servers from the network.
Ingram Micro therefore confirms the speculation that has been circulating for several days among its customers. According to the IT-Business media, customers can no longer place orders since the evening of July 3, 2025. Rumors of a possible cyber attack then circulated. BleepingCompute, a media specializing in computer security, reports that the distributor would have been infected with Ransomware Safepay. This information was confirmed by a ransom note discovered by several Ingram micro employees on their computers. Also according to BleepingCompute, the distributor would have asked certain employees to work from their home and not use the GlobalProtect VPN platform.
In its press release, Ingram Micro apologizes “for all the inconveniences caused to its customers, trade partners and other”. The company works hard to resolve the breakdown so that you can quickly resume processing and delivery of orders.
