(Quebec) The operations of the Capital Transport Network (RTC) gradually resume on Monday morning after the 10 -day strike of maintenance employees which immobilized the buses during the Summer Festival of Quebec (FEQ).
The members of the Syndicate of Maintenance Employees of the RTC, affiliated with the CSN, disengaged from July 4 to 13, that is to say almost the entire duration of the FEQ, believing that negotiations with the employer’s part have not progressed for several weeks.
The strike officially ended at midnight, on the night of Sunday to Monday, which means that buses can start traveling in the streets of Quebec. However, the RTC warned that several departures scheduled for Monday morning have been canceled to allow a gradual resumption of the service.
The full service will be back in the afternoon, the RTC said in an opinion to its users.
The transport company has already confirmed that a reimbursement policy will be implemented once an agreement in principle will be concluded with maintenance employees, which has still not happened.
“The calculation of the reimbursement will be made by pro rata, on the basis of the number of days of strike,” said the RTC.
The Syndicate of Maintenance Employees of RTC – CSN represents 363 workers in the Garages of the Transport Company.
In addition, the service also resumed on Monday morning at the Quebec-Lévis Traverse. The trades were also immobilized for 10 days, from July 4 to 13, due to a strike by non -patented employees affiliated with the CSN.
