If insistent rumors point to an formalization of the Samsung Galaxy G Fold during the next Unpacked in July, images within the Android code at least confirm its existence.
Driving in the Android code allows you to make discoveries of all kinds. The latest version of One UI 8 (the Android in Samsung sauce), for example, suggests the profile of a highly anticipated mobile: the foldable with two hinges, nicknamed, for the moment, “G Fold”.
Android Authority has indeed unearthed animations showing designs of the mobile in action and teaching us a little more about the way in which the latter will arise. A sign that Samsung is preparing to formalize its release.
A delicate phone to handle
The first image shows the functioning of the NFC module on the phone, but above all allows us to know how the different facades of the mobile will be arranged. From back, an outdoor screen will accommodate in the middle of two other components, one containing the photo modules (left) and the other being completely empty (right). Returned, the animation suggests an imposing interior screen allowing to have a real compact tablet in your hands.
Unlike the Huawei Mate XT which folds in the form of Z, the Samsung phone would fold in the shape of a G with each of the components withdrawing inward. A characteristic that earned him his nickname “G Fold” and a second small animation in the One UI 8 code.
You can see that the left panel (from the interior screen) actually has a thinner hinge, allowing it to slip under the panel containing the photo modules during folding. Never too careful, Samsung even included an animation showing the direction in which the phone should not be folded down to avoid breaking the screen.
Multifold ? G Fold ?
Strangely, the name “G Fold“Is never mentioned in the code, Samsung preferring it to the name”Multifold». It is quite likely that this is just a code name and that the Korean manufacturer continues on its momentum accompanied by a letter from the alphabet.
