The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed this Monday morning the discovery of a case of nodular dermatosis in a Savoy breeding. For the time being, the location of the herd has not been indicated.
The disease affects only cattle, zebus and buffalo. She is not transmitted to sheep. Nor is it transmitted to humans, neither by contact, nor by consumption of products from the animals concerned. On the other hand, the disease strongly affects the health of affected animals as well as their production.
It is the first time that a home for this disease, which has been transmitted to sheep by insect bites, especially the tales is detected in France. In accordance with European regulations, the entire herd must be “depopulated” said the ministry.
In addition, a 50 -kilometer safety area establishing protective measures and reinforced controls around the farm will have to be established. Given the location, this will affect Savoy, the departments of Haute-Savoie, Ain and Isère.
