At least 19 people were injured Friday evening in an incident involving fireworks during festivities organized in Düsseldorf in Germany (west). One child and four adults are seriously affected, local firefighters said on Saturday morning.
Nearly 80 rescuers were asked. According to initial information, one of the pyrotechnic devices exploded at too low altitude, for a reason still unknown. The show was organized as part of one of the largest fairs in the Rhine region, the Düsseldorfer Rheinkirmes. The festive evening was arrested following the incident.
A spokesperson for the organization said they were going to examine the opportunity to repeat this pyrotechnic tradition next year.
The party which originates in the honor of the patron saint of the city, Apollinaire, began on July 11 and must end on Sunday.
