Seven years in prison for the former standard player

Ronnie S., a former Liège Standard player, was sentenced to seven years in prison. The former pro was found guilty of drug trafficking and money laundering by the Breda court.

Ronnie S. was involved in cocaine trafficking and money laundering. The prosecution claimed thirteen years in prison, but ultimately the Dutchman will have to serve seven years in prison.

Not all charges have been proven. Ronnie S.’s brother, aged 43, also received 3.5 years in prison, but he is currently in Dubai and is therefore on the run. He had already been previously sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. Former professional footballer Ronnie S. therefore received a “lenient penalty”. “Ronnie, and to a lesser extent his brother, formed a link in the world’s hard drug trade,” said the president of the court.

30,000 euros fine

A fine of 30,000 euros was also imposed and nearly 2 million euros in profits were confiscated. According to the court, this trade did not have an impact on the company. “They only sought to earn big sums of money. Ronnie S. has been in pre -trial detention since June 10 of last year and will therefore not be released. Exchanges between criminals via the Sky ECC messaging service have constituted major evidence to condemn it.

According to DE TELEGRAAF, Ronnie S. was mainly worried about her son and the consequences of his conviction. The accusations did not affect him. “He should have thought about it earlier and make other choices,” it was heard in court hard.

“S. ended his football career in 2016 at NAC. He was champion of the Netherlands in 2010 with FC Twente. He was also under contract with the Liège Standard in Belgium and Wigan Athletic in England ”, can be read in De Telegraaf.
