After ten years when the Doubs park has carried out numerous wall restoration works, it now intends to change orientation: “Restoring a wall of dry stones is a long-term job. It is each time an obstacle course, whether it is for example to obtain the owner’s agreement or to find funding, ”recalls Régis Borruat.
For example, a wall 120 meters long restored recently in hell had required 390 hours of work upstream.
Promote the transmission of know-how
For all these reasons, the Doubs Park has decided to guide its actions rather on the training and transmission of know-how. This fall, for example, he will offer consumer training to learn the basics of building dry stone walls. During the four days of lessons that will take place in the woods, participants will be able to familiarize themselves with this ancestral technique under the direction of Olivier Cattin, experienced Muretier, member of the Jurassic Association of Dry Stone.
“We also intend to continue the partnership that we have with the Sanu training and advice company and the Swiss Federation of Masons in Dry Stone (FSMPs), for the restoration of the retaining wall between Saint-Brais and the Chésal. A course intended exclusively for professionals, and recognized by the FSMPs. ”
Finally, a wall is being restored at the exit of Saint-Brais below the road, a site essentially intended for people wishing to volunteer: “We sometimes have requests for groups or companies wishing to do volunteering, so we offer to work on this site.”
“Of course, if opportunities arise, with individuals or municipalities wishing to restore walls, we will enter into matters. But we will no longer be proactive, ”says the park director.
