“They were put in a giant white van, there was no inscription on it, and they did not have many explanations, so she was terrified,” said a friend of Sarah Shaw, Victoria Besancon, at the RNZ media.

On July 24, Sarah Shaw went to Vancouver, Canada to go back to two of her children at the airport so that they could take a direct flight to New Zealand to go to their grandparents.

Upon his return to the United States with his other son, Isaac, they were arrested by the ICE, the anti-immigration police of Donald Trump, then sent to a detention center in Texas where they are still.

“They are confined in horrible isolation conditions with access very limited to means of communication with legal advisers and at the limit of abuse,” describes Victoria Besancon in a Gofundme that she launched to help pay the mother’s costs.

The New Zealand, however, believed that all her papers were in order. Her son also had all the valid and necessary papers to cross the border, according to his friend.

According to the media NewsweekSarah Shaw is waiting to receive her work permit (Green Card), but was arrested even if she had immigration documents.
