Silver medalist in the French championship, Yann Garric dreams of European title

The young sportsman joined the Lodève club this season, with a high -level status, ambition and great pleasure.

Originally from the Toulouse region, Yann Garric joined this season a club of twirling Bâton de Lodève whom he knows for having come to supervise internships … and where he feels good. At 20, the school life assistant at Lycée Vallot with a high-level sports status, has just won a silver medal in the final of the French elite championship, 15 days ago, at the Vendéspace de Mouilleron-le-Captif (Vendée). What to increase his motivation for the European championships in July, if a foot injury wants to leave him alone.

Alzheimer’s, a choreography for his grandmother

“The season went super well, I finished first on all my competitions to the final. Unfortunately, I am injured in training a week before. We planned the package but I decided to go”indicates Yann, who was keen to show his choreography on the theme of Alzheimer to the French public. “I chose this year a personal theme, a message for my grandmother who followed me in twirling, which has always been very present and which today has no memories.” With the key, a 2nd place for 0.2 points and money that is not happy. “It’s sport, but I would be in two weeks with the French delegation at the European Championship in Spain, in Lleida, where I will carry this beautiful project.”

France, Europe, World, an extraordinary list of prices at 20 years old

Yann Garric has been twirling stick for 16 years, a sport he discovered thanks to his two sisters whom he followed in training and competition. Since his first title in 2013, Yann has been eight times champion of France, European champion in 2023 solo, vice-world champion 2022 and world champion in team in 2024. He chose Lodève to continue his career, surrounded by club president Laurence Blot, who trains with his sister Élisa Garric and his choreographer Didier Boudy. “Elisa and Didier are two people who count a lot for me. They have always been there to help me in my life as a sportswoman and outside.”

A complete discipline too little known

With an additional soul for those who found a balanced environment. “I came here for work and for a healthy, family, benevolent club with whom I have a lot of affinities. We are very supported and it’s great to work in this atmosphere”, Adds the champion, who transmits his passion to the little ones, like the youngest Malo Kilque and Gabriel Gaucher, 1st and 3rd in the French N2 championship in a sport still too confidential. “There is today a real development of twirling by the Federation and ministerial recognition. We have a demand, complete, which combines rhythmic and sporting gymnastics, dance and theater. It only lacks media coverage.”
