Sony announced the release of the PXW-Z300 4K 60P XDCAM camcorder, designed for reporting and documentary professionals. This robust camcorder is equipped with a range of connectivity functions and convenience sought by these professionals.
The PXW-Z300 is equipped with a 17x optical zoom covering a 30.3 mm focal range to 515 mm, while 1.5x digital zoom in 4K mode extends the zoom range to 772.5 mm. The constant opening objective f/1.9 is placed in front of a variable electronic ND filter which can be set between 1/4 and 1/128 ND, which allows shootings at large opening even in direct sunlight. A prism distributes the incoming light between three 1/2 inch exmor R 4K CMOS sensors, thus eliminating the common aliasing from unique chip camcorders which use Bayer filters.
The camcorder can follow human subjects using AI to define the development while automatically adjusting composition and exposure, or the operator can manually adjust the development, zoom and diaphragm using the three lens rings. The case is designed with many buttons and dials for direct access to other device settings. The shooter can use the 3.5 -inch high -light adjustable screen and 2.76 million pixels mounted on the flexible LCD arm to control recordings from any angle.
The image is processed by the Bionz XR processor before being stored on CFEXPRESS Type A or SDXC UHS-II/UHS-I in the two card locations, transferred to the cloud or FTP storage, or diffused in real time using the RTMP/RTMP and SRT protocols on wire and wireless networks. A variety of output resolutions up to 4K 60p and codecs (MPEG HD422, XAVC intra, XAVC Long and MP4 Proxies) are supported. It is possible to capture up to four sound channels using XLR inputs and multi -interface claw (MI).
The camera can be powered by BP-U35, BP-U70 and BP-U100 batteries or by any USB-C PD 100 Watts power source. Several accessories can be mounted using the V frame located on the side of the case.
The release of the camcorder is scheduled for the fall of 2025. Its price has not been released, but the previous PXW-Z280 had a catalog price of $ 10,200. Readers looking for a more affordable option can turn to the PXW-Z90V sold here on Amazon.
