“Stop, we are fed up”: the discontent of Lausanne traders in the municipality – Rts.ch

Lack of parking, insecurity, events that block the center … The merchants of Lausanne express their fed up, through posters and a website, the author of which was so far anonymous. The RTS was able to meet the one who hides behind this initiative which attacks the municipality of the left.

“Stop, we’re fed up!” is a poster present on many businesses in the center of Lausanne. In particular, it denounces accessibility problems for cars, the consequences of which go as far as a drop in turnover.

“I have customers who call me to tell me that they would like to pass, but that unfortunately they cannot find a park space because there are too many work,” deplores a florist in the 19:30 on Tuesday. “It’s a matter of survival,” she insists.

The poster refers to a anonymous site. Critique vis-à-vis the municipality with a majority of the left, he presents a count there until the municipal elections.

The merchants can no longer and must have pushed a rant to be heard

Claudio Bocchia, merchant and creator of the LAUSANNEN traders’ growers site

“Merchants can no longer”

The data team of the RTS managed to identify the creator of this site: Claudio Bocchia, entrepreneur and trader. He agreed to explain to the microphone of RTS, alongside the empty shopping arcades. “It is not really anonymous,” he believes. “These are traders who have started together to express their raz-le-bol. The site is neither piloted by an association, nor by a political party.”

“The merchants can no longer and had to push a rant to be heard,” he insists.

The merchant cooperative was surprised by this approach, but it shares the concerns that are the feeling of insecurity, the accumulation of works and demonstrations, as well as the lack of parking lots.

Municipality open to dialogue

In the viewfinder, the municipality and its trustee invite dialogue.

Grégoire Junod, trustee of the city of Lausanne, says “understand” the concern of traders, but believes that it is necessary to “work together” to find solutions. “They are in an extremely complicated situation with the rise of rents, online trade, questions of accessibility to the city and the sites,” he admits.

The city has announced to unlock two million francs to promote trade, but the stake could feed the March 2026 elections.
