Swimming and descent from the Rhône with a boat were prohibited Tuesday evening from the barrage of the only one in Geneva due to a hydrocarbon leak. The fire and rescue service (SIS) intervened on site to absorb the problem linked to this biological product.
The leak comes from the rupture of a hydraulic pipe on a construction machine, said its spokesperson in the early evening while adding that it was not yet absorbed. The SIS had been called at 4:53 p.m. due to the presence of hydrocarbons on the Rhône near a site where work carried out by a general company mandated by the industrial services of Geneva (GIS) take place.
This project is linked to the preparation of the microtunnelier passage which must work to connect the engineering project to the Praille-Acacias-Vernets sector (PAV). The SIS deployed two boats on each side of the barrage of the only project for the protection of water. For his part, the police patrol to alert users.
In case of contact with hydrocarbon, it is recommended to rinse the skin with soapy water, rinse the eyes abundantly with clear water and consult a doctor if it has been ingested.
