The airline Cathay Pacific Order 14 Boeing 777

The Hong Kong Airline Cathay Pacific will acquire 14 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, the new big carrier of the American aircraft manufacturer. This is the first order in 12 years of the Hong Kong airline at the Seattle manufacturer.

Cathay Pacific exercised his rights (…) to buy 14 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, the company said in a document transmitted to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

She mentioned an option to acquire up to seven additional Boeing 777-9 devices. Deliveries are planned by 2034, according to another stock market document.

The contract, the amount of which is not revealed, is added to an order 21 aircraft 777 placed in 2013 and therefore brings to 35 the number of copies of this long-haul that Cathay Pacific must receive.

‘The order made of Cathay Pacific the largest operator of 777-9 in Asia-Pacific’, said Boeing.

The deliveries of the Birder, presented in November 2013 and which must be manufactured in three versions-777-8, 777-9 and 777-8 FRET-, had to start in 2020.

The last estimate brought to the start of deliveries in 2026 for this aircraft which is intended to be the largest operational twinning in the world.

Cathay announced this order on the occasion of its results of the first half marked by a slight increase (+1%) of net profit to 3.6 billion Hong Kong dollars (370 million in francs).

The carrier benefited from an increase in demand for travel to Asia, which contributed to a 9% increase in turnover to 54 billion.
