The antipotian center reports a disturbing increase in overdoses due to popular appetite suppressants such as Ozempic and Rybelsus and warns that a larger dose will not lose weight faster, reports Het Laatste Nieuws on Friday.
Since the start of the year, 41 calls have already been recorded, according to the communication coordinator at the center, Patrick de Cock. This is a significant increase compared to the 50 reports for the entire year 2024.
“If that continues, we will have doubled in a year by December. And that would mean that we would go from one to two poisonings per week, ”plans Mr. de Cock.
The active ingredient of the Ozempic, the semaglutide, reduces the level of glucose in the blood, which provides a feeling of satiety. But in case of overdose, the glucose level drops to a level so low that it can lead to a coma.
