Big walks in the woods
Mainly concentrated on the Esplanade du Bois de la Bâtie, the Biennale des Espaces d’Art has fun all -out Creativity Question.

Everyone calls her “big”, as if she were an old acquaintance. It’s not wrong, the Geneva art spaces Biennial already celebrates its 10th anniversary and its sixth edition. With in this big, acronym as well found and served in its English -speaking consonance, a big desire to collaborate, to bring together, to offer. And to work. More than in the idea of a crazy race for monumentality!
In fact, the Big, willingly nomadic from one edition to another, this time mainly holds on the Esplanade du Bois de la Bâtie, thought and conceived as a solidarity camp. Artistic. Sound. Opening on planned or spontaneous collaborations, on a workshop for creating facet balls or on a preposter in Troc, on the development of a radio fiction or on the bike ride of a flower delivery man. It is therefore fluid – it is the objective – even if the risk of losing the visitor exists! But the target everyone is not forgotten, on the organization side, there are six of them watching.
“By opting for the Bois de la Bâtie, we made the choice of another, more forestry universe, such as taking a step and height compared to this first decade of Big, poses Apolline Aymon. We wanted to be sweet, in the idea of the care of oneself and others. Or how to make art together. “
The words are tempting. They can also switch the contemporary scene in this waterproof intermediary for the general public! A risk multiplied by the BIG DNA which happens from selection and curation. “This is a big question,” says Apolline Aymon, especially since the programming is sprawling with a hundred art centers, 70 installations and 270 events planned. We have worked on the clarity of information on the website, thematic walks (forest course, sound), mediation. And we asked the artists to be a maximum present on the site. ”
A “Belvedere” for the Biennale

A dormitory fitted out in the heart of the big, in the Big 2025 spirit, tubbing and pastel colors, should help convince them. Difficult to judge, at the time of our visit, the Biennale had not yet been varnished and it was morning sorrow with rain on the program. Until the meeting with Andreas kressig… in his “belvedere”. The plastic artist, associated on this one with Manu Mottu and Cyril Yeterianknew how to choose his corner, a little away, on the cornice, to set up his observer, contemplator, festive … music, performance and tastings in support. The installation is then in progress, it remains of the job but whatever, likes it to take the time of exchange. “It’s a bit of a goal,” he says, “and that’s what was as interesting throughout the assembly. People, passers -by stopped in front of this bizarre hut, made up of recovery. This is typically something that we cannot do or live in a museum. ”
