The famous meeting of the Acadian peninsula returns for a 63rd edition from August 3 to 15. As every year, the affirmation of Acadian identity is at the center of the festivities.
Mathieu Girard, Managing Director and Artistic of the Festival, is his second year at his head. He notes that his organization is always accompanied by a certain pressure, because expectations are high.
Everyone will dock us, tell us about things to improve, artists to invite, we cannot satisfy everyone […] You have to build a headache whose final image is never known. Which is incredible. What is rich is the support that people have towards the festival, they are attached to it
he explains.

This year, the festival is organizing several activities to satisfy this feeling of Acadian pride.
A stroll on the bay to recall the nautical aspect which is anchored in Acadian reality; A culinary competition where the best sugar and sister sister pies in the region will be contested; Gigues workshops and a mountain bike decoration competition will be on the menu

Another addition this year: that of a speech. He will seek to strengthen the idea that the Caraquet Acadian festival is there to support identity cohesion.
Someone from the community contacted me a few months ago saying to me: it’s a shame, on August 15 we are 15,000 people we are feast, but we don’t take the time to talk about identity really
says Mathieu Girard. I found the idea excellent. This year I decided that on August 15 we are going to make a small national speech and I hope it will be a tradition that we will make every year.
The actress Diane Losier will be the happy elected. She will be the first to deliver a speech for this new tradition of the feast of Acadia.
A panoply of artists
True to its habits, the festival offers a vast panoply of artists with several dozen headliners who will alternate on the Caraquet scenes.
