The CEB’s results in 2025: the alert tumble is better in French and math!

By looking at it more closely, the average of the results obtained this year increases everywhere except on the alert where we see a loss of almost 9 %: we go from an overall average of 78.40 % to 69.42 %. It is the second lower obtained in this material in 10 years (in 2018, the average was 68.74 %).

The CEB stresses the students but above all … parents: “Some take leave during the week”

According to the teachers, it is the sciences more than the history-geography that stuck. “The main problem encountered in science was understanding, interpretation and argumentation during questions related to experiences (with strings, pulleys, …). The experiences were not obvious to understand and not really related to the ‘lived’ of students”explains the teacher Margaux. “It was two scientific experiences to understand and interpret. They were neither easy nor difficult … It was especially reading tables and graphics to be completed with the info of the experience“, adds Martine.

In French, the student average is 73.77 % (70.98 % in 2024) and 75.57 % (73.99 % in 2024) in maths.

“Overall, the results are stable, although there is a significant decrease in the average obtained awake. We will ensure that the assessment commission writes the CEB in compliance with a level of requirement allowing secondary entry with essential achievements. Within the framework of our ambition to strengthen basic learning, the maintenance of the CEB’s certification character is essential, and Perfect complementarity with the key test, which will be deployed in 4th primary from 2026 “comments the Minister of Education Valérie Glatigny (MR).

The teachers are categorical, the CEB was more demanding before: “fewer and fewer materials are assessed”

Currently, the threshold for the success of the event is set at 50 %. If the student obtains at least 50 % at the external test, he automatically switches to secondary. If this is not the case, the class council intervenes and assesses if it is relevant to maintain it in 6th primary on the results of the last two school years. Parents can also introduce an appeal if the child was denied the CEB.

The total number of children who have obtained the CEB will be higher than the success rate of the tests. He will be known in October.
