Since April 13, all eyes have turned to Osaka, Japan. And for good reason: the city hosts the Universal 2025 exhibition. The world event transforms this metropolis into a real crossroads of cultures and becomes a real laboratory of innovations. Until October 13, millions of visitors are expected to explore one of the most ambitious events of the year.
A universal exhibition in the heart of an artificial island
The place alone already attracts all the attention. The 2025 universal exhibition is unique since it takes place on the artificial island of Yumieshima, an atypical site of 155 hectares thought as a laboratory of the world of tomorrow. Imagined by the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, the site revolves around three thematic zones:
- Green World: which is at the entrance to the island;
- Pavilion World: where you can reach all pavilions;
- Water World: an area featuring water and the marine environment
Beyond these three zones, visitors can discover the hoster country pavilion, Japan, located east of the main ring. This year, Osaka strikes hard with its artificial island and its animations.
The Universal Exhibition, an unmissable event for 174 years.
Universal exhibitions have been organized for more than 170 years by the International Exhibition Office, they aim to bring together nations around major issues of our time. The theme of the 2025 edition, “to design the society of the future, to imagine our life of tomorrow”, finds a very special resonance in a world in search of sustainable solutions, especially in terms of ecology and peace between countries. This is an opportunity to bring together countries, especially through cultures and differences.
Osaka is not at its first attempt: the city had already hosted an exhibition in 1970, which had already marked the spirits. This 2025 edition promises to be even more memorable, carried by technological innovation, Japanese culture and a legendary reception, the famous Omotenashi (Japanese hospitality.
A global event under the sign of unity
The Universal Exhibition is an opportunity to unify countries, especially in time of conflict. This edition brings together 158 countries and regions as well as 7 international organizations, all come to share their visions of the future. Among the present pavilions are those of China, Germany, France, Egypt, the United States or Colombia.
In an international context often marked by tensions, the Universal Exhibition of Osaka 2025 embodies a message of hope, cooperation and unity. A planetary meeting not to be missed. It is also one more reason to visit Japan and explore the different islands that make up the archipelago.
