Price, networks and consumers in France
- Heat wave and nuclear stops: the price of electricity at the highest for two weeks : At the beginning of August, the electricity spot prices in France reached € 79.84/MWh, a two -week summit. This increase is due to heat wave, high demand for air conditioning and unforeseen nuclear arrests. France should remain exporter, but with an increased use of fossil fuels. More info
- Gravelines central: jellyfish causes four reactors : On August 10 and 11, a massive and unpredictable presence of jellyfish obstructed the cooling systems of the Gravelines nuclear power plant, causing the automatic stop of four reactors. This incident has made 6.1 GW unavailable, or around 10 % of French nuclear capacity. EDF provides for gradual restart by August 15. More info
- Renewable energies: the 1st quarter 2025 assessment : According to the latest SDES data, the power of the photovoltaic solar fleet reached 26.8 GW on March 31, 2025 (+40 % production compared to T1 2024) and that of the 24.9 GW wind farm. The injected biomethane has also increased, with a production up 17 % compared to the previous quarter, representing 2.3 % of gas injections on the network. More info

- Affordable and lasting accommodation: the EU launches a consultation : The European Commission has opened a public consultation to develop a European plan on affordable and sustainable housing, scheduled for 2026. The objective is to support projects adapted to local contexts which contribute to the energy transition while respecting national and regional diversity. More info
- Inflation and energy: Eurostat confirms the link : a publication of Eurostat illustrates the impact of the energy crisis on inflation in the EU. After reaching a peak of 9.2 % in 2022, it slowed down to 6.4 % in 2023 to 2.6 % in 2024. More info
