The basic iPhone 17 would offer six color options, according to information confirmed by several sources. This palette includes the black and white classics, joined by four new shades: Steel Gray (Pantone 18-4005-TPG), green (Pantone 2282 U), Violet (Pantone 530 U) and light blue (Pantone 658 U).
The Steel Gray is a more modern reinterpretation of Space Gray, while the return of purple marks a revival after its absence on recent models. With these Apple colors would show that it seeks to diversify its chromatic offer to attract a wider audience, especially in the face of the increased competition from Android manufacturers.
The iPhone 17 Air: sobriety and elegance
The new iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the more abandoned model due to its low sales, would adopt a more minimalist approach with four colors: black, white, light blue (Pantone 657 U) and clear gold (Pantone 11-0604 TPG Gardenia). This limited selection is explained by the positioning of the Air model, designed to be the finest iPhone ever created with a thickness less than 6 mm.
The clear blue of the iPhone 17 Air was initially intended for the pro model according to the first leaks. This last minute change illustrates the constant Apple adjustments in its product strategy, seeking to optimize the attraction of each model according to its market segment.
The iPhone 17 Pro: Chromatic innovation with the Liquid Glass
Pro models would introduce the most intriguing color in the range: the Liquid Glass. This special finish, available only on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, created different visual effects depending on the lighting conditions. This color is directly inspired by the Liquid Glass interface of iOS 26, creating harmony between the hardware and the software.
In addition to this innovation, the pro models would also offer a new orange color, described as a more lively version of the Desert Titanium. This copper shade would enrich a palette that also includes black, gray and dark blue.
The iPhone 17 Air: a risky but necessary bet
The iPhone 17 Air represents a major challenge for Apple. With a battery of only 2800 mAh and a unique camera, this model must compensate for its technical limitations by its ultra-fine design and attractive colors. The choice of more sober colors for this model perhaps reflects a prudent repositioning strategy, after the commercial failure of the model Plus.
The iPhone 17 will be officially presented in September 2025, in accordance with Apple’s usual calendar
