The president of France Télévisions, Delphine Ernotte, the mayor Horizons of Nice Christian Estrosi and his wife, Laura Tenoudji-Estrosi, were placed in police custody Monday in the context of an investigation into the organization of events in Nice.
A dozen people in total were convened on Monday as part of surveys, initially open to Nice and then transferred to the specialized interregional jurisdiction (Jirs) in Marseille, on the organization in Nice in 2023 of the Junior Eurovision song competition, organized and broadcast by France Télévisions, and another event, Nice Climate Summit, organized in 2023 by the economic media, Another close source confirmed to Médiapart information last week last week. The president of the tribune Jean-Christophe Tortora was also summoned on Monday.
Embezzlement of public funds and illegal taking of interests
The surveys are notably open for “embezzlement of public funds”, “illegal taking of interests” or “false in public writing”, according to a source close to the file and Mediapart. The information site ensures that they “aims (nt) directly” the Estrosi spouses, “which dispute having committed any offense”.
A first survey had been opened after a report of elected officials from Nice concerning the environment on the environment.
Former columnist in Télématin on France 2 and wife of Christian Estrosi since 2016, Laura Tenoudji-Estrosi had to animate two round tables during the Nice Climate Summit, subsidized by the City and the Metropolis and co-organized by La Tribune. Faced with the controversy, she had given up there, the city and the metropolis ensuring in a press release that she had to intervene at the “voluntary” conference and collaborated with the economic media.
Regarding the Junior Eurovision, the survey relates in particular, according to Mediapart, on “the choice to entrust to Laura Tenoudji the co-animation of the opening ceremony of the event, even though the municipality led by her husband was very generous to welcome him, with a treatment up to 605,000 euros”.
