Belgium will defend its European title of female basketball against Spain on Sunday. The Belgian Cats won at the end of the suspense in the semi-finals against Italy on Friday (64-66) in Piraeus, Greece, and will play their second final in a row to add a medal to their collection.
It will be gold or silver at the end of the duel on Sunday (7:30 p.m.) against the Spanish who surprised France in their semi-final, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (64-65).
After bronze medals in 2017 and 2021, the Belgian Cats had conquered the European title for the first time in history two years ago in Ljubljana, already against Spain. Spain was titled four times at the Euro, in 1993, 2013, 2017 and 2019, by defeating France each time in the final. She was also in money in 2007 and bronze five times in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2015.
