“The first Canadians”, volume 2: a new story in Quebec to read absolutely!

A few months ago seemed the first volume of an essential book: The first Canadians.

Its author. However, Jacques Houle, undertook to tell from a new angle the history of Quebec, by rediscovering those which he calls the French Canadians of Quebec.

His idea was very simple: Quebec. For example, as a politico-historical entity, would not exist without them, without what he also calls this majority of French Canadian ancestry.

But this evidence is taboo today.

But we will only understand this Renaissance by inscribing it over time. being aware of the tests that we have collectively gone through.

The Durham report had programmed our disappearance. French Canadians, everywhere in Canada, were victims of persecution. And yet we are still there.

Houle is concerned with well -made chronology, which often lacks official historians.

He reminds us of the important characters in our history. He marks the steps well. He finds its meaning.

He also knows how to write so that everyone understands it. which does not detract from the quality of the style, because we are in front of a beautifully written book.

Pride

To those who want to combine this summer exciting and instructive reading this summer, this book is essential.

I would go further “the first canadians”, volume 2: by saying that it is necessary, while Canadian propaganda is stronger than ever.

A people without history is a people without a compass, and ends up going around in circles. It is possible, in this very beautiful book, to find our compass, to finally find our history.
