London believes that a “window exists” for a “diplomatic solution” with Iran
British Minister of Foreign Affairs David Lammy was in Washington on Thursday, where he notably met the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with whom he was able to mention the situation in Iran.
“During our meeting with Secretary of State Rubio and the emissary [américain] For the Middle East Steve Witkoff in the White House today, we discussed the need for Iran to conclude an agreement to avoid worsening the conflict. A window now exists in the next two weeks to achieve a diplomatic solution ”David Lammy said in a statement from the British embassy in Washington.
“It is time to put an end to the dramatic scenes in the Middle East and to avoid a regional escalation which would not benefit anyone”he insisted. ” Tomorrow [vendredi]I will go to Geneva to meet the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs alongside my French, German and European Union ”counterparts”continued the British minister.
The three ministers, as well as the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, must meet Abbas Araghty in Switzerland, when European countries are increasing calls for de -escalation between Israel and Iran.
