The Google One Application of Interface on Android, with a more sober design and a remarkable absence.
Google is starting to deploy a visual overhaul of its Google One application on Android, based on the expressive Material 3 style. A more refined aesthetic, with sometimes surprising interface adjustments. In particular, the abandonment of dynamic colors which had become a marker of recent Android applications.
A more sober design for Google One
First visible change: the welcoming illustrations that adorned each tab disappear. The reception now put on a more direct interface, where the welcome message is displayed at the top, followed by the sections “storage”, “backup” and “cleaning”, for better visibility. The cards adopt rounded corners and finer contours, always in the Material 3 Expressive codes.

In the “Storage” tab, the details of use by application are now integrated into a card, alongside the “Liberating space” button. The interface for backup of the device remains close to the old version, with some minor adjustments.

The bottom of the screen accommodates a finer navigation bar. Google gives up here the more massive style of previous versions. Another detail: the default blue is used to indicate the active tab, which contrasts with the personalized shades to which users had used.
A bug or an assumed choice?
But a change in particular intrigues: the disappearance of dynamic colors, which adapt according to the wallpaper of the device. On some devices under Android 16 and Android 16 QPR1, the interface thus goes from dark blue to a simple gray, while the status bar still retains the dynamic shades. It could therefore be a bug, rather than an assumed choice on the part of Google.

This visual update (version 1.271.x) is being deployed on the server side. It is not yet available on all devices tested, which confirms a progressive deployment. A little patience, so you should see it arrive soon if it is not already the case.
