The owner already sentenced in December 2024 for animal abuse

A horrible discovery was made in a house in Durnes (Doubs), Thursday, August 14, 2025. A dozen corpses of decomposing dogs were found. Other canids, still alive, evolved in the midst of the excrement. The owner was already convicted in 2024 for animal abuse on ponies.

Xavier Garcia, president of the Besançon spa, does not take off and we understand it. The latter spent his day of August 14 to collect corpses of dogs and to rescue others just alive. This horror scene was noted in a house installed in the town of Durnes, in the Doubs.

It all started with a phone call from the gendarmerie on Thursday in the morning. Xavier Garcia and his colleagues from the Besançon Spa go there around 11 a.m. They approach the door accompanied by gendarmes and are seized by a pestilential odor emanating from the accommodation.

Unfortunately, this smell of animals knows her well. This is not the first time he has been intervening on such dramatic business. “” “It felt the corpse ”he reports. Nobody comes to open them. “We took our responsibilities and broke the door to enter”he explains to us.

Once entered, the latter discover the unthinkable. The house is sense below. Holding strewn the ground, excrement is spread out everywhere. The smell is unbreathable. Three dogs are found “In a lamentable state”, living in the middle of droppings and waste, and “Driving their own urine”.

In the house and in the garden shed, another discovery raises the heart of Xavier and his teams, but also gendarmes. A dozen corpses of dogs of all ages are found in advanced decomposition, covered with verse and flies. “We discovered eleven corpses of dogs. Five adults and six puppies. We think that the dead dates from one or two months to several weeks. Some corpses were dislocated when we were trying to take them in our hands”reports Xavier Garcia.

The dogs found dead are farm dogs, shepherds or even Patou crusaders. Dogs still alive appear “Hyper-right”. They are transported to the Longeaux refuge, “In security”, Even if their condition remains particularly worrying. A cat is also supported.

While animal specialists take care of animals, the gendarmes collect testimonies from neighbors. Many of them denounce what is going on in this house. In particular, they denounce the actions of a woman, about 41 years old and a man also living in housing. A petition was also launched several weeks ago to denounce the situation. The mayor is also aware.

The owner of the animals, a certain Christelle T., is well known to justice since she has already been condemned at first instance for animal abuse on the ponies of the Micaud park, in Besançon (reread our article), of which she was the owner. It was in December 2024, less than a year ago. At the time, this case had caused a stir.

The latter appealed the court decision. Note that his conviction did not mention a ban on having animals. The associations formed civil parties were worried about this lack of essential measure according to them, in view of the severity of the facts and the profile of the owner.

Xavier Garcia has been following this file for about 5 years and denounces this “error” committed by justice. “We are fed up with wetting the jersey instead of being with our families. We spend afternoon picking up corpses! We don’t want it to be vain. We just want her to have the right to make animals suffer!”insists the president of the Besançon spa. And to add, disillusioned: “She seems to have no awareness of what she is doing.”

Xavier Garcia once again filed a complaint against Christelle T., who was placed Thursday evening in police custody at the Ornans gendarmerie. It has since been released, according to the Besançon prosecutor’s office, contacted by us. An investigation is underway to define the responsibilities in this case.
