The speech is substantially the same on the side of the Fellay family, the large came of Valais and with a lot of raclette as the tradition wants. Since he discovered the Concours market, fifteen years ago, he has not missed the high mass of the Franches-Montagnes horse once. He established a friendship with the Vuillaumes a decade ago. “Since then, I have helped them every year at the competition market,” he reports.
At the end of the table, the Bernese Jurassian of Courtelary Rebecca Hodel, the first woman to have obtained to run on a Roman tank with four horses, recounts her debut in the races. “It was in 2008. The committee had concerned that a woman did not have enough strength to hold her horses. But I convinced them by telling them that a horse, it works in obedience. Four horses represent a thousand kilos in each hand. Neither a man nor a woman can hold horses who do not obey and mine were well trained,” she recalls. She will win this same race the following year, in 2009.
Palpable solidarity
On site, we find the team of Claude Schauli, who came to shoot for the director’s last film: the Jura and the meaning of the party. “I find it interesting to show that the market-competition, it is not only in bleeding that it happens. I like this friendship that comes from everywhere. Together, these people do something and we feel a great solidarity. It is an aspect that it is important to show in a film on the meaning of the party, because the party is also it,” says the director.
