The Region, the North Vaudois newspaper, dismisses all of its staff – RTS.CH

The board of directors of the Region, a newspaper based in Yverdon-les-Bains, has decided to dismiss all of its staff, or 14 full-time equivalents (EPT). The announcement was made to the concerned on Monday afternoon.

This decision was also announced to a judge of the Northern Vaud district court, the company being “over-indebted”, as confirmed by Jean-Claude Vagnières, the chairman of the board of directors of the Hebdo SA region.

The main reasons for this decision are above all to be found in the increase in postal distribution prices.

In its July 4 edition, the region recalled that it was faced with an increase in prices for the distribution of its newspaper. The title has found a less expensive product to distribute its all-menage on Thursday, but that made it lose federal subsidies of indirect press aid. The situation has not improved for 10 days has not improved for 10 days.

Explored “tracks”

“The board of directors continues to actively explore avenues with partners to avoid seeing the title disappear definitively,” confirmed Jean-Claude Vagnières, without specifying possible concrete avenues.

Based in Yverdon-les-Bains, the region appears on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday on subscription, as well as Thursday in all household at around 46,000 copies. The newspaper was founded in 2007.
