After the announcement of GPT-OS, a new open source model (but not too much) of Openai, it is already time for the company to switch up a gear on the artificial intelligence side with GPT-5. While formalization is planned for today, Microsoft has sold the wick by promoting AI on Github, a collaborative development platform bought in 2018.

Microsoft has the priority of Openai by revealing GPT-5 by mistake
Partnerships are good, especially when the secrets are not disclosed in advance … Isn’t it, Microsoft? Indeed, the Redmond firm has failed by revealing key new features of GPT-5-a few hours before its announcement. While Openai confirmed a launch event for this Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 10 am (Pacific time), at 7 p.m. in France.
It was through Github that the drama took place, with a beautiful blog post published yesterday. Confirming the arrival of the most developed IA model of OpenAI in Github Models, management and integration service of AI models in development tools, we learn that it offers “Major improvements in matters of reasoning, code quality and user experience”.
It manages complex coding tasks with a minimum of prompts, provides clear explanations and introduces improved agent capabilities, making it a powerful coding collaborator and an intelligent assistant for all users.
An integration that positions GPT-5 as a major ally for GitHub, collaborative development platform. The publication also details five variants of the model:
- GPT-5: for logical and multiple stages tasks
- GPT-5-Mini: Light version for cost-sensitive applications
- GPT-5-NANO: Optimized for speed and ideal for applications requiring a low latency
- GPT-5-Chat: for advanced, natural, multimodal and contextual conversations in corporate applications
Developers will be able to access it from the tab Modelsand test these new capacities in the GitHub Models Playground or via the Github API.
