The son of the princess of Norway charged for four rapes – Liberation

The criminal investigation ended in June and the burning file against the eldest son of the princess heiress of Norway was from the hands of the Oslo prosecutor, Sturla Henriksbø. This Monday, August 18, his services announced that Marius Borg Høiby, 28, was charged with 32 offenses, including four rapes. More than the 23 charges retained initially by the police.

Man is accused of several acts of violence, infringement of public order, degradation and violation of a protective order against another former partner. He is also accused of having filmed the genitals of several women, without their knowledge and without their consent, the prosecutor Henriksbø said on Monday at a press conference in Oslo. In Norwegian law, the concept of rape also covers sexual acts without penetration, committed while the victim cannot oppose resistance.

“The maximum sentence for the offenses mentioned in the indictment is a prison sentence of up to ten years”recalled the prosecutor. And add: “These are very serious acts that can leave lasting traces and destroy lives”.

Marius Borg Høiby comes from a relationship prior to the marriage of his mother Mette-Marit with the Crown Prince Haakon. He is therefore not in the order of succession of the Norwegian Crown. “The fact that Marius Borg Høiby is part of the royal family should not lead to what is treated with more indulgence or severity than if similar acts had been committed by others”, insisted the prosecutor Henriksbø.

The 28 -year -old was arrested on August 4, 2024, suspected of having attacked his partner. These facts sparked a series of other revelations and complaints by several victims.

The four rapes for which Marius Borg Høiby was charged in 2018, in 2023 and 2024, the last after the police investigation. Princess’s son’s lawyer Petar Sekulic, told the newspaper The newspaper That his client firmly denies the heaviest accusations that target him, in particular those of rape. “He takes this very seriously. He cooperated very well with the police and was questioned in several cases ”detailed his council, recalling that Marius had been interviewed 14 times since May.

Shortly after his arrest in August 2024, the son of the princess recognized being guilty of violence. “I have committed bodily damage and destroy objects in an apartment under the influence of alcohol and the cocaine After an argument“He wrote in a press release. He said he suffered from “Mental disorders” and fight “For a long time against drug addiction ”.

Princess Mette-Marit’s son was again arrested in November 2024, this time for rape. An unprecedented fact for a member of the Royal Norwegian family, he had spent a week in detention. It followed a week in a detoxification treatment in London, according to the Norwegian press. The trial of Marius Borg Høiby should open in January 2026.
