In the canton of Neuchâtel, the Sagne statues path offers an open -air gallery with 120 wooden sculptures for more than a kilometer. They are the work of Georges-André Favre, passionate engineer. He created these sculptures for thirty-five years until his death in 2013.
In the Neuchâtel mountains, it is a path where art and nature meet. At La Sagne, 120 statues carved in the wood watch silently on the forest. The statues path is a real open -air gallery over more than a kilometer of path marked out of animal sculptures, plants, but also portraits cut in trees.
The works are all achievements of Georges-André Favre, an engineer from the Locle, artist in the soul and passionate about sculpture. He devoted thirty-five to design them, until his death in 2013 at the age of 82. The Association of the Statues Sentier, created in 2001 and chaired by Rolf Hugi, now preserves and maintains this unique artistic heritage in the Neuchâtel mountains.
The charms of this cultural and natural experience are revealed during an enchanted and poetic walk of about two hours round trip, with a drop of 240m. Halfway through, a cover has been fitted out and along the route, several benches welcome hikers and hikers to extend the exit and admire the work of Georges-André Favre.
