UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the largest attack on drones and missiles on Saturday since the war in Ukraine three years ago on Saturday.
(Keystone-ATS) Mr. Guterres says “firmly condemn the last series of large-scale attacks of drones and missiles led by Russia”, in a press release referring to the attack on Friday, calling for a total, immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
“The secretary general is alarmed by this dangerous escalation and the growing number of civilian victims. The attacks on civilians and the civil infrastructure are prohibited by international laws and must stop immediately, “said the statement made public by UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.
Ukraine was the target on the night of Thursday to Friday of the most massive Russian drones attack on the war.
Massive attacks of drones and missiles that have continued for hours have forced civilians to seek refuge in shelters throughout the country.
AFP journalists have heard drones above the capital and explosions that resonated throughout the night while Ukrainian air defense systems postponed the attack.
