The vote will end at 5 p.m. and the results should be published shortly after.
The offer includes salary increases of approximately 13 % over four years, as well as hiring part -time workers, deemed necessary by Canada Post to maintain postal service afloat.
The Syndicate of Posts workers urged the 55,000 workers it represents to reject the proposal.
If the workers reject the offer, the union says that it will immediately contact the employer and invite him to return to the negotiation table. However, he maintains that new strike or lockout measures could lead to an intervention by the federal government through a return to work law or an enforceable arbitration order.
The vote, which began on July 21, is administered by the Canadian Council for Industrial Relations, in the wake of the intervention of the Federal Employment Minister Patty Hajdu, in the labor conflict.
The union said that a massive vote for the “no” would have the effect of rejecting the offer, but also of protecting the integrity of the negotiation process.
