France turns out to be the European leader in fixed internet speed. According to Speedtest data, France occupies third place behind Singapore and Hong Kong. The second European country is Iceland, which occupies sixth place, while Romania ranks tenth.
If we examine the classification of cities, Lyon even comes first. Lyon achieved this performance with an average download speed of 347.2 Mb/s, thus ahead of Abu Dhabi, Valparaiso and the Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai. The Romanian capital Bucharest is the second European city, occupying sixth place.
Internet mobile
In terms of mobile internet, Europe is much less efficient. The podium is occupied by the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait. Bulgaria occupies sixth place and Denmark the tenth.
In terms of rapid mobile internet, you must also turn to the Middle East. Ar-Rayyan and Doha, in Qatar, occupy the first places, followed by Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Skopje, in northern Macedonia (6th), and Sofia, in Bulgaria (9th), are the only European cities to be included in the Top 10.
Belgium
Belgium is rather classified at the top of the table in all these rankings. In terms of fixed internet, our country occupies 50th place out of 152 countries. In the field of mobile Internet, Belgium ranks 39th out of 103 countries.
Antwerp and Brussels are the only Belgian cities for which Speedtest has sufficient data. Antwerp occupies an honorable 34th place thanks to the speed of its mobile internet, but must be satisfied with 77th place in the fixed internet classification.
