About fifty French children of Jewish faith, as well as their accompanying people, had to get out of an airplane from the Vueling airline before taking off the Valence apparatus to Paris-Orly. The company justified this action because the children were noisy, that they had sang songs in Hebrew and that they presented a danger to the crew.
“During boarding, everything went well”
Damien, present in the apparatus at the time of the facts, but which was not with the group, tells for Europe 1 what he experienced on the plane. A testimony that moves away from the version of Vueling’s facts: “During boarding, everything went well. The children were very calm, especially for adolescents who enter colony”.
He adds that the children “are really sitting while talking quietly. There is one who called his friend for two seconds. But everything went very well.” He specifies that the children occupied the back of the plane, “from the 18th or 19th row”. “Everyone was very cordial, very polite, whether on -board staff, children.”
“When the children came out, they were almost all on the phone with their parents”
Damien says that the safety instructions were interrupted: “An air hostess took the phone and said there was a problem with security and that they were going to call the Guardia Civile (the Spanish police)”. The latter arrived and they discussed with one of the monitors: “It seems to me that they brought it outside the plane and then the colony followed”.
An evacuation of the device that happened in peace, repeats Damien: “The children were almost all on the phone with their parents. But really on the plane, the director, everyone was really calm”. It was only when everyone was outside that the first cries were heard. “We, from the plane, indeed heard cries, but we did not know who had been tackled on the ground.”
