An ex-surveillance in a youth center that still does not recognize his crime after being found guilty for sexual contact on a vulnerable teenager received a year of detention.

The magistrate then sentenced the 36 -year -old Lavallois to a year of detention. Its mandate was to monitor adolescent girls in a youth center in Laurentides. However, he developed a special relationship with one of the 15 -year -old girls.

He continues to deny
At the end of his trial, Séguin had been found guilty in particular of sexual contacts. And even if he still does not recognize his crime, he hoped to get away with a penalty to serve at home.
During the observations on sentence, he challenged the minimum sentence of one year “on the grounds that it would constitute a cruel and unusual sentence.”
“For the prosecution, the rehabilitation begins with a recognition of the wrongs caused, which is not the case here”, had rather pleaded the prosecutor of the crown, Me Stéphanie gilbert.
Séguin will finally have to serve his sentence behind bars, decided Judge Bénard.
His risk of recurrence is under the average and even if he continues to deny, he has a desire for rehabilitation. The father of a newborn is currently unemployed, due to anxiety caused by legal proceedings.
According to a reported report, he has no empathy for the teenager whom he has attacked and believes himself victim of an injustice.
A deep shock
For his part, the victim, who is today major and tries to start his life, still undergoes the consequences of abuses.
“I vomited almost every day and despite medical tests, there is no clear physical explanation, except that my body seems to react to a deep psychological shock,” she wrote in a letter read in court.
When the one whose identity is protected by the court rethinks these difficult memories, her body reacts in spite of herself.
“I feel cold sweats, my muscles tense and I find myself frozen for long periods,” she added.
After his imprisonment, Sébastien Séguin will also have to take a two -year probation.
