This free game on Steam mixes Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy

I had a real crush yesterday when I discovered Call of Elyndra sur Steam. It is exactly this kind of nugget that makes me love to analyze the new independent games. I just tested the free demo and frankly, it is as if someone had read in my thoughts to create the game that I did not even know that I wanted!

A perfect wedding between Final Fantasy and Stardew Valley

When I launched Call of Elyndra for the first timeI was immediately seduced by its aesthetics. The developers of Quorum Games have succeeded in the impossible: to merge the nostalgic visual aspect of Final Fantasy Tactics with the addictive mechanics of a Stardew Valley.

The graphic atmosphere is just magnificent – neat art pixels, colored environments and characters with endearing design. You know, this kind of game where you spend whole minutes just to admire the little details? Well, that’s exactly it!

What bluff me is the coherence between these two universes which, on paper, have nothing to do. On the one hand, the fantasy atmosphere with its share of magic and mysterious creatures; on the other, the tranquility of a rural life simulator. And yet it works perfectly!

The feedback from other players are just as enthusiastic. On Steam, positive opinions are already accumulating for demo. ClarineTowl writes: “I had to stop playing demo only because I can’t wait to immerse myself in this game when it was released! Another user, LiljoyForever, Share: “Absolutely brilliant demo, finished and adored every minute. I can’t wait for this game to come out – what nostalgia! »»

A free demo that has just been enriched

If like me you are the type to want to test before buying, a mini extension like that of Stardew Valley is always welcome. The good news? Call of Elyndra’s demo is available for free on Steam, and it has just received a significant update!

The developers have added an essential element of any good agricultural simulator: Fishing mechanics! Let’s be honest, a Farming Sim without a fishing mini-game, it’s not really a Farming Sim, right?

What makes this demo particularly interesting is that it is complete enough to give you a real idea of the final game. I was able to seek:

  • The basics of the agricultural system with planting and harvesting
  • Interactions with some characters from the village
  • Fights in turn recalling the Japanese RPG classics
  • And now the brand new fishing system!

Even if certain mechanical aspects still require adjustments according to a few players, the global experience remains extremely promising. I love it when a studio takes the time to refine its game by listening to the feedback from the community.

The assets that already crack the community

Call of Elyndra combines several elements that explain its immediate appeal. I have identified the main forces of the game in this table:

Aspect Description Inspiration
Visual Detailed and colorful pixel Final Fantasy Tactics
Gameplay Agricultural simulation mixture and RPG Stardew Valley + JRPG Classic
Musique Nostalgic and soothing soundtrack OST 16-Bit era snes/PS1
Characters Memorable and endearing design Classic Japanese RPG

What particularly marked me was the balance between relaxation and adventure. One day, you quietly grow your vegetables; The next day, you go to face monsters in dungeons! This duality reminds me why I love the games that are not limited to a single kind.

The male characters also caused a sensation with some players (I totally understand why!), But the game has much more to offer than simple attractive designs. The potential depth of relationships and the intrigue that takes shape in the background promise a rich narrative experience.

The future of a promising indie jewel

After spending several hours on the demo, I am convinced that Call of Elyndra has everything to become a must -have of the genre. Quorum Games developers seem to have found the perfect formula to satisfy both Japanese RPG fans and life simulators lovers.

If you are like me, to constantly seek this little game which will give you as much pleasure as nostalgia, I strongly advise you to try the demo. It is substantial enough to give you a promising taste of what is waiting for you in the full version.

While waiting for the official release, I go back to fish a few fish and plant my cultures. With a little luck, I may be able to unlock other secrets hidden in this already well stocked demo. A word of advice: don’t wait to download it, you could spend hours there without even realizing it!
