This SpaceX rocket booster reaches a historic reuse record

The numbered propellant B1067 is marking the story of SpaceX and the space conquest by chaining a record number of missions. Never had a Falcon 9 rocket floor has been used so much.

It was well worth an Elon Musk tweet. On the day of July 2, 2025, the American billionaire welcomed the good return to land on a first floor of Falcon 9 rocket, whose race ended on an ocean barge, off the American coast. “” 29 landings for a single propellant He exclaimed.

If he does not say it explicitly, this is a record for Falcon 9, whose booster is very close to the symbolic CAP of the 30 reuses. Here, it was mobilized for a routine mission of transporting another cluster of 27 Starlink V2 Mini satellites, which will join the low orbit around the earth, where there are about 7,000 already active.

The booster is approaching 30 uses

The model of this first floor, identified by code B1067, entered service for the first time on June 3, 2021 and then served:

We can note that in average, this booster is reused every 54 days approximately. Above all, these chronological differences reveal something else: the rate has been relatively accelerated over time. On the first half of these shots, the gap between two shots was around 64 days. On the second half, this spacing was reduced to just over 43 days.

The following graph makes it possible to view the accentuation of the tempo over time.

Here, most of the missions concerned orbit of Starlink satellites (17 flights). There are also supply operations of the international space station or the transport of astronauts, as well as more conventional commercial services for customers who need to send satellites around the earth.

If the B1067 propeller is running in mind by having the use record at SpaceX, other boosters are not far in its wake. We think in particular of the first floors B1063 and B1071, used respectively 26 times each, or even in the B1069 (25 times). Four other propellants are above 20 uses.

A success that inspires

This rhythm of use demonstrates the capacity acquired by SpaceX to have a launcher reliable to serve regularly, once finished its routine checkup. It is also a good way for the American company to see in real conditions the wear of the first floor as it goes on its operational career.

This is proof that the bet of SpaceX, both technological and industrial, is won. Its rockets have a very high reliability rate and are able to return automatically to Earth after their mission, allowing the company to be very competitive on the launcher market, thanks to prices defying competition, and high availability.

A success that ended up convincing Europe to react and be inspired by this strategy. Several determining projects for the future of the Old Continent rockets are counting on reusable launchers and also capable of returning to Earth – this is the case of Ariane Next, which will succeed Ariane 6, or the small Maia launcher, as well as Themis and Callisto projects.
