Three new board games to have fun with two

As always in this playful chronicle, I explore for you the exciting universe of board games. I test several to find the most interesting to recommend to you, promoting the French versions offered in the specialized shops of the province.

The board game Everdell Duo

Everdell Duo

For one or two intermediate players aged 10 and over. Duration: 25 to 45 minutes. Price: $ 57

In 2018, the first Everdell Fascinated the playful world with its charming universe of animals with a thousand trades building a small forest village. The most recent iteration of this sales and esteem success – called Everdell Duo — Modifies and renews the basic rules to intend to parties for two.

Here again, you play cards, collect berries, pebbles and wood, then place workers’ figurines on the set. However, this version now lends itself to competitive, cooperative games (where everyone plays together against the game), in a series of connected games (called campaign), in “challenge” against a virtual and even solo opponent. These are a lot of possibilities in a (relatively) small box. The competitive version for two seems to us the most interesting, that said.

Everdell Duo is very similar to its ancestor, but can be a good front door for initiated players who wish to finally explore the cute world ofEverdell. Or for the fans who want to test its reduced rules and its faster parts.

Zenith board game

Zenith

For two players (or four in teams) beginners-intermediaries of 10 years and over. Duration: 25 to 40 minutes. Price: $ 48

After the success of his inaugural game Captain Flipwe were curious to see how the publisher Playpunk was going to continue on his momentum. Zenith is the answer to this question.

This duel with Futuro-Spatial theme takes you into a rope shift-with colorful cards-to reach your cause of the planets of the solar system (read: Pull discs towards your side of the plateau). You must use strategy and take advantage of the “technological” bonuses at your fingertips to bail out your zenithium chests (your currency), buy new cards and fill in one of the three victory conditions.

A simple concept, brilliantly developed and enhanced with quality components. Zenith succeeds in instilling bite and finesse to what could have been a small quiet game.

The board game agent avenue

Spies are hunting in the middle of the suburbs! To unmask your secret neighbor-agent, you have to chase it with a card strokes in a race in the street. Agent Avenue is an amazing little game, overflowing with cunning, bluff and malice.

Each round, you offer your opponent two cards, a hidden side, the other visible side. He chooses one, leaving you the other, before you both apply the effects of this card to advance your chips. Some will allow you to make up for your rival, others will make you go back or offer you a surprise victory. The simple Agent Avenue is a solid game of pursuit full of tension that spins at lightning speed!
