Thunderstorms: three departments in the south of France on alert: News

The departments of Gard, Hérault and Lozère are placed in orange alert for thunderstorms and rain-roller from Tuesday August 19, mid-mid-afternoon, after the heat wave episode. Sixty-eight departments are placed in yellow vigilance.

The sky was particularly busy during the heat wave, it will therefore be necessary to expect it to be unleashed. Tuesday, August 19, Météo-France announces that 3 departments in the south of France, Gard, Hérault and Lozère, are placed on orange alert for thunderstorms, as well as 68 departments on yellow alert with risks of violent phenomena.

Indeed, after more than 10 days of hot weather, with many records of beaten temperature in various places in France, France is preparing to experience a significant drop in these temperatures. Mercury should not exceed 30 degrees today, or even difficult to reach 20 degrees in various places in the country. And this drop, accompanied by risk of thunderstorms, should continue in the coming days.

Gusts of wind, heavy rain and hail to come

This is thus affected by this stormy degradation the entire part of the south-east quarter, from the Massif Central in the Alps, but it will also go back to Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Île-de-France. Brittany is also concerned. These thunderstorms can even reach great intensity, with strong gusts of wind, or even hail and important accumulation of precipitation, weather alert.

These heavy rains should then move to the Basque country from Wednesday, still accompanied by a sharp drop in temperatures. In some regions, mercury should even be below seasonal averages.
