A mountaineer has just lost his life in Haute-Savoie. This 30-year-old Greek nationality died on Monday after falling at the top of the snack corridor, in the Mont-Blanc massif, said the Chamonix high mountain (PGHM) platoon.
The man, aged “about thirty years”, wore a “big backpack” and surely committed a “technical error”, said the PGHM, confirming information from France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
Many causes of the drama
The victim, who descended alone and uncrowded, was found at the end of the morning by rescuers after falling several hundred meters. His fall can be due to “a combination of lots of things”, like “fatigue”, a “heavy backpack” or a “lack of vigilance” according to this same source.
Located under the snack refuge (3,835 m altitude), the snack corridor is one of the most dangerous areas of the classic access to Mont-Blanc.
