Torture and murder in Lachine: 15 months in prison for a murderous teenager who did not want to testify

A young man who had tortured and killed a Montrealer when he was a teenager will have to spend 15 more months behind bars for not having wanted to testify to the trial of his accomplice.

The murderer pleaded guilty to an accusation of contempt in court on Thursday at the Montreal courthouse.

He thus admitted that his conduct had been “deliberate” when he refused to testify to the trial before Jury of Véronique Manceaux, accused of the first degree of Jimmy Methot.

An order of non-publication prevents us from revealing his identity, since he was a teenager at the time of his crime.

“I do not remember much,” he said several times in April 2024, when he was at the helm. He even said he did not know who was the victim.

“Last meal”

In September 2021, a group of friends gathered at Manceaux to consume drugs when an argument broke out. The hostess of the evening believed that the 27-year-old victim was a “spy” in the pay of his ex-gone.

Then Manceaux began to strike Mr. Méthot, who was tried to flee.

His attackers served him a “last meal”, from frozen chicken pâté, before forcing him to drink flammable liquid.

“I don’t want to die like that,” said, desperate, Jimmy Metal, trying to flee.

But the teenager, armed with a machete, managed to curb the victim in his race. Jimmy Methot has been stabbed several times.

The victim’s body had been found a few days later in a barrel located in the garage of the Lachine residence.

Guilty

Even if the young person did not testify to his trial, Véronique Manceaux was found guilty on the whole line.

“His intentions were in no way to interfere, intentionally derail the trial or help Mme Manceaux, ”said Mr.e Sabrina Lapolla, the lawyer of the teenager today aged 21.

The attitude of the young “could have affected the result of the trial of Mme Manceaux, “said judge Daniel Royer, who chaired the body last year.

At that time, the accused was anxious and had difficulty sleeping. And his transition from a youth center to a prison has been so hard for him that he lost 100lb, according to his mother.

In 2023, he pleaded guilty in the youth chamber to accusations of first degree and outrage to a corpse. He then received nine years on guard, a year less than the maximum sentence permitted by law for a minor.

He will now have an additional 15 months to serve before he can regain his freedom. J. Daniel Royer announced that he will be confirming this common suggestion in September.
