The “Lausanne”, the first airbus A350 of Swiss, takes off
The plane made its first test flight in Toulouse. This model is the first of the ten aircraft that will modernize the company’s long-haul fleet.

Swiss has taken an important step in the modernization of its long-haul fleet with the first flight of its new Airbus A350-900. The device, baptized Lausannetook off from Toulouse on August 6 at 11:27 a.m. to make its inaugural flight, according to a press release from the company.
This several -hour test flight allowed Airbus specialists to examine the performance of the device, including aerodynamics, orders, the pressurization of the cabin, the planeic, electrical systems and air conditioning. This is the first of the ten Airbus A350-900 ordered by the company.

The latter will all be put into service by 2031. “This new long-haul aircraft is distinguished by its environmental performance, notes the carrier. A reduced fuel consumption by around 25%, CO₂ emissions of approximately 25%and sound emissions reduced by almost 50%. ”
The choice of name Lausanne For this first A350 is not trivial, for Swiss: “It is a question of highlighting the cultural, innovative and cosmopolitan character of this important Lake Geneva city, seat of the Olympic International Committee.” The company also highlights its status as a leading economic pole and a tourist destination popular for its situation by the Lake Geneva, its old town and its cultural offer.
Assembled in Toulouse
The device bearing the MSN 737 serial number has been assembled in recent months in Toulouse. Airbus experts have assembled the fuselage, wings, reactors and the impact, before applying the SWISS Wanderlust special livery, which celebrates Swiss diversity.
Before this first flight, the device has undergone in -depth floor tests in recent weeks. The engineers checked the reactors, the behavior of the plane at different rolling speeds, braking and steering techniques. A high -speed take -off interruption has also been simulated to test central security systems such as chassis, fuel systems, hydraulics and electronics.
The A350 made this inaugural flight under French registration F-WZHI, being still under the responsibility of Airbus and the French authorities. He will only receive his Swiss HB-Sifa registration after his official delivery to Swiss, scheduled for early October.
