The arrival of the 11th stage of the Tour de France in Toulouse on Wednesday was marked by the emergence of a pro-Palestinian activist on the final line, disturbing the sprint between Jonas Abrahamsen (Uno-X Mobility), winner of the day, and Mauro Schmid (Jayco Alula). Wearing a t-shirt proclaiming “Israel Out of the Tour” and brandishing a keffiieh, the individual ran on the road, shouting “Israel on the Tour, the Tour made himself an accomplice”, before being tackled against the barriers by Stéphane Boury, manager of arrivals, then arrested by the police.
Member of Rebellion Toulouse extinction, according to sources, the activist protested against the participation of the Israel-Prime Tech team, already targeted by similar actions, in particular at the Giro of Italia 2025. The team, without Israeli runners this year, benefits from reinforced security in the face of tensions related to the conflict in Gaza, where more than 58,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023 local authorities.
The incident did not affect the race, Abrahamsen winning after a daring escape. Earlier, Tadej Pogačar had dropped 5 km from the finish, but the peloton slowed down to allow him to return without loss of time.
